Watching those horrific images of terror attack.. anger is running high in the people . Its pain deep inside for people who lost their loved ones. Media cries 'Enough is Enough'. Public calls for politicians heads. So many emotions..so little thought ..the big question to be asked.. are these emotions JUSTIFIED?
At this point when the public is so furious with politicians.. its interesting to look at polling percentage in south mumbai(where this horrific incident occured). Its shocking 44%..for me this figure is even more shocking than the attack itself. Which means more than half of the people never had faith in the system now what are they newly agitating against? And this also means that government is not even answerable to half of the people who are out on the roads protesting.
I heard so many people talking about taxes...since mumbai is paying highest amount of taxes they deserve security...fair enough.. so NSG team instead of risking their lives to rescue people should have refunded their taxes back to their families...this is what you are asking right? This argument of taxes is even more pathetic than some of the comments made by our politicians. I actually wasn't surprised by this because for the first time terror struck the so called "high class" and you expect such immoral arguments from them.
And the media which cries 'Enough is Enough' should know that it was not even close to enough when you had mere 15 journalists covering hunger deaths of farmers in vidharbha as opposed to 500 journalists covering a fashion week in mumbai. And its certainly not enough to have a discussion on Police equipment and reforms only after the attack. Media portrays this as the biggest attack on India...I am not sure how they measure an attack....is it because they targetted the high class? and reiterating the fact that media is in their hands. Terrorists could have easily blasted off a medium sized village with the amount of ammunition they had with them...but then it would have never been seen as 9/11 by our media ..even terrorists knew that...Thanks to the media atleast our villages are safe.
After this attack there was a bomb blast in Assam in a passenger train killing two people..and what priority you gave to that news? If it had been an attack on some posh hotel..I am sure it would have been the story of the day...And there was an outrage in media about some comments by politicians...I don't know how different these "lipstick" comments were from the ones those made by media on Home Minister's suit. In both the cases issue was unbelievably bigger than these silly remarks..but as usually media tried to cash in by focusing on them.
One can't expect when and how terrorists attack....its all speculation so its a bit difficult to avoid it..but a flood like situation is not like that..you have prior information about it....but every year hundreds of people die and thousands become homeless..with a better disaster management system can't we avoid this?
After the attack.. there has been a pressure to have NSG teams in all the metros..why wasn't there a demand to have a permanent rescue team for regularly flood effected areas?
